This latest offering
from local songsmith Jack Pound is a real jewel in the troubadour's
crown - from it's anthemic opener Soldiers in the Army of Love
to the suggestive finale Dim the Lights. An album of total
communication - the subtle undercurrents buried in the humerous coating
of Traveller no More laying against the raw unadulterated emotion
of Watcher on the Hill and instant classic Stephen Lawrence. It's always a pleasure
to receive the newest CD from local songsmith Jack Pound, who plays
guitar and harmonica. His voice well suits his unique style and material.
Listening to his songs is a real experience of every emotion. The ironic
humour of 'Traveller No More', the pure emotion of 'Watcher on the Hill'
and the raw open heart sadness of Stephen Lawrence, a song
seen not only from a parent's view but society generally. You can hear
the tears in his voice. Done in a gutsy blues style, certain to become
a classic. 'Fragile Earth' - self explanatory, 'Jesus in her Soul' -
him an existentialist. Goodbye existentialism, hello fish - Bird Guano, The Lyer Available from The Annexe Studio 07881 953078. Info www.jackpound.com |
