in off the deep end

Now  then...Jack sounds the sort of guy you don't mess with. The kind of guy who goes his own way, irrespective of fashion, commercial appeal and even popularity; the character who blows huge record contracts by refusing to change one note of an intro. for fear of compromise; the bloke who lives by the creed of "hang the consequences." - I could be quite wrong, of course - he might be a snivelling wimp - but he has that rugged type of voice, instantly dominant and authoritative, and a single minded determination to follow his own musical route, come what may. He virtually says so himself on one of the tracks here " I don't give a damn / Take me as I am / I'll fix you the best I can / I'll be my own man."
His astonishingly individual style stretches across all manner of parameters, from sounding vaguely like Michael Chapman on the brilliant "Low Pool Music" to Shakin' Stevens on "My Own Man"; elsewhere Guy Clark and Ry Cooder appear to be bigger influences.
Can I keep this one please.
